Super Cool Vest Design Guide
Brief: Design guide for body cooling garment focusing on four user personas
Processes: User interviews, Figma, SolidWorks
Duration: 9 weeks
Context: Project created when I was a designer and engineer for OceanIt Labs, an engineering R&D Lab based in Honolulu, HI.
As a design and mechanical engineering consultant at OceanIt Labs, I worked on a team to create a user guide for the Super Cool Vest project. SCV is a body cooling vest that uses coolant fluid that circulates through a dry-fit garment. The vest has various applications, ranging from active combat to users with medical need for body heat regulation.
As a team of designers, we created combined the learnings from a variety of user interviews and investigations. The guide evaluates the needs of four distinct user personas, and proposes a most fitting version of the SCV. In these cases, the vest remains the same, and the liquid cartridge that contains the coolant changes in form and attachment.
